Malibu Loses

Malibu High lost a non-league football game Saturday to Brethren Christian of Huntington Beach, 51-26.

Running nack Miles Edman scored three touchdowns for Malibu, one on a 71-yard pass from quarterback Bennett Sherman. Overall Sherman threw for 288 yards.

Former Samohi

Coach at Loyola

Dan Escelara, a former Santa Monica High head football coach and an assistant at SMC last season, has joined the staff at Loyola High.

Loyola, the top-ranked team in CIF Division 1, doesn’t have a campus field and is dividing home games between SMC and Glendale High. On Saturday Loyola played at SMC and defeated La Quinta, 45-15.

Cross Country

New Roads will participate in the Westside League meet next Thursday (Oct. 6) at 3:30 p.m. at a site to be determined.

Girls’ Volleyball

New Roads will host Shahevet Thursday (Sept. 29) at 4 p.m. in a Harbor League match.Venice lost a non-league match to Narbonne, 3-1.
