SM Playhouse Earns Grant:

Santa Monica Playhouse has been awarded a $6,000 grant from the City of Santa Monica Community Arts Program, an endeavor of the Santa Monica Arts Commission. The grant will be used by the Playhouse for its Schools Theater Field Trip curriculum during 2007. Over 1,000 students in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District will be given the opportunity to visit the Playhouse and learn many aspects of theater arts.

Says McKinley Elementary School teacher LaShawn Moore, “Honestly, I don’t think there are enough words to express how thankful I am to have been able to provide my students with this rich opportunity.”

The Playhouse has been open for 46 years, and has taught over 500,000 students in the community.
