Heal the Bay marked Earth Day weekend with a beach cleanup at Santa Monica beach just north of the pier on Saturday morning, April 21. Volunteers, young and old, 718 strong, collected trash along the shoreline between Santa Monica and Venice. HTB also held a cleanup at Compton Creek on Saturday. According to HTB CEO Mark Gold, “It is heartening to see this turnout for Earth Day. People really want to make a difference – participating in events locally, across the country and around the world for Earth Day.” photo by Margaret Molloy
