Columnist Thomas Elias has won the 2007 first prize in signed commentary from the Los Angeles Press Club.
Elias’s column is syndicated in papers all over the state. The Santa Monica Mirror is the only local newspaper to carry Elias, and Elias is the only syndicated columnist the Mirror runs on a regular basis.
Elias received the prize for the body of his work over the last year at the club’s 49th annual Journalism Awards dinner.
“The Elias column consistently hits as hard as a left hook,” the judges said. “It attacks the high and mighty without regard to position or personal consequence.”
