GoFundMe

The fundraiser seeks to offset costs including tournament fees, transportation, lodging, meals and equipment.

The Santa Monica 12U Girls Fastpitch Softball Team has earned a berth in the National Championships after a season marked by strong play and dedication, organizers said.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched to help cover travel expenses so all players can participate in the tournament. The fundraiser seeks to offset costs including tournament fees, transportation, lodging, meals and equipment.

As of Friday, the campaign had raised $3,625 of its $4,500 goal.

The team has spent countless hours in practices and tournaments, showcasing teamwork and sportsmanship, according to the fundraising page. Qualification offers the young athletes a chance to compete against top teams nationwide.

“We want every player to have the chance to experience this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, regardless of financial circumstances,” the campaign organizers wrote.
