While Harding is in fact a folk artist – and a very talented one, at that – his modernistic take on music is more apt to inspire comparisons to artists along the lines of Billy Bragg, Nick Lowe and Elvis Costello.

Sunset Concerts, Tribaljazz, July 26, 8pm

With Tribaljazz, iconic Doors drummer John Densmore set out to explore something he had always known was in him – playing and recording as a jazz drummer. In response to his calling, Densmore teamed up with longtime jazz sax player, flautist and composer Art Ellis to form this acoustic jazz and tribal groove combo. Piano, bass and additional percussion were tossed into the mix to round things out – the result being a seductive, hypnotic, one-way ticket to nirvana.
