Local Architects Are “Best of California”:

Three Santa Monica developments have been named California Construction Magazine’s “Best of California 2007.”

Archstone Santa Monica (pictured above), designed by Howard Laks, AIA Architects, is a mixed-use building that opened earlier this year on Main Street. It won in the Mixed-Use category.

Last week’s Mirror featured SMC’s Theatre Arts Building, which was named best in the Performing Arts group. It was designed by Leo A Daly of Los Angeles.

The third building to receive the magazine’s honor was SMC’s New Music and Performing Arts Center, designed by Renzo Zecchetto Architects, which won in the Higher Education category.

Both Laks and Zecchetto are based in Santa Monica.
