Westside Basketball Roundup:

The Santa Monica High boys’ basketball team won five consecutive games after losing three of its first four.

Most recently, Samohi defeated Mira Costa, 45-42, as Justin Maxwell scored 17 points and Willie Goetz had seven offensive rebounds.

The Vikings were behind after one quarter, 7-3, before getting into an offensive rhythm.

The Santa Monica High girls are 8-1. The Vikings won their first four games, lost to Vista Del Lugo of Moreno Valley, 64-60, then won their next four. The two most recent wins were over Marlborough, 56-47, and Windward, 71-35.

The Brentwood girls lost a non-league game to St. Paul, 71-35.

The Palisades boys won the Beverly Hills Tournament, defeating Long Beach Poly in the championship game, 53-35. The Dolphins had a balanced scoring attack and all-city guard Aaron Hawk-Harris took nine rebounds.
