Young Readers on Promenade:

As part of Castle Heights Elementary School’s bi-annual Bookfair, students and their parents gathered last Saturday at the Promenade’s Barnes & Noble to listen to the children – kindergarteners through 5th graders – read. Some youngsters chose their own work to share, while others read from their favorite books. Pictured is 2nd grader Amanda Toothman with her teacher, Ms. Colina.

Santa Monica’s Downtown is unique in that it is contained on three sides with cliffs to the west, deep canyon to the north and the Santa Monica Freeway to the south. This limits access to and from the center of our City. Since most major arteries terminate in Downtown, there are few ways for residents to escape the inevitable gridlock.
