Last summer, local indie rock outfit the Michael Craig Band took to the Temple Bar and won the West Coast Finals of the BlastBeat Battle of the Bands, sponsored by social networking service BlastSpace. Shortly after this performance, the band will be heading out to Ireland to compete against groups from across the globe. Opening the night is a crop of solid young artists, including surfer-friendly folk singer Todd Hannigan and teenage hard rockers Drive A.

Written and directed by Jean-Luc Goddard, Sympathy for the Devil features the Rolling Stones recording the album of the same name. Interspersed throughout the recording session footage are clips involving the Black Panthers and a character named Eve Democracy, lending to a piece that is more about 1960s counterculture than simply a Rolling Stones album.
