Western League Softball Race Tightens Up:

Suddenly, Venice High’s runaway in the Western League softball race has turned into close competition.

The Gondoliers’ 10-game winning streak came to an end in a 5-4 loss to Westchester.

Then, after Venice defeated Fairfax, 11-4, it lost again – this time a home game to Palisades, 14-2.

As a result, as the teams head into the final three games of their league schedule Venice has a 7-2 league record and Palisades is 6-3.

Overall, Venice is 14-4-1 and Palisades is 10-4.

Danielle Mestas is batting .586 for Venice and has a 12-3 pitching record. Jamie Kenyon has pitched the other two victories, and Jasmine McNeal is hitting .490.

Palisades does not provide individual statistics to the media.
