Chamber to Present State of the City II:

On July 17, the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce will present its second “State of the City” program, featuring a discussion of the economic outlook for the city by a panel including Mayor Herb Katz, City Manager Lamont Ewell, Misti Kerns of the Convention and Visitors’ Bureau, Kathleen Rawson of the Bayside District Corporation, Tom Larmore and Laurel Rosen of the Chamber, and Ben Franz-Knight of the Pier Restoration Corporation.

Chamber President/CEO Rosen said, “Because State of the City Part I [held January 15, 2008] was so effective, most all in attendance requested another forum for this year.  Hence, Part II.  This time, we will be focusing on the economic state for 2009.  It gives residents and business owners a chance to ask questions of their community leaders.”

This installment of the State of the City will feature an overview by City Manager Ewell of the new $521.7 million City budget adopted by the City Council June 17.

The luncheon gathering (noon-2) at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel is open to the public, and tickets ($60 for Chamber members, $65 for non-members before the event) are available through the Chamber offices at 310.393.9825 or info@smchamber.com.
