Coach Returns as SMC Completes Training:

Santa Monica College completed a month-long football conditioning class July 19.

The emphasis was on players learning the plays and the system as they worked three times each week on the Santa Monica High baseball field.

Head coach Robert Taylor, who missed some time due to illness, led the practices in the final week.

Offensive lineman Charlie Pohland, a freshman from Samohi, was impressive in his bid for playing time.

The team will resume workouts in August to prepare for the 2008 season. After playing three road games SMC is scheduled to host LA Valley on Sept. 27 at 1 p.m., the first game on Corsair Field’s new FieldTurf.
