Headquartered here in Santa Monica, Douglas Emmett is one of Los Angeles’ fastest growing real estate investment trusts, with over 450 employees, operating over 14 million square feet of Class A office space, and 2,868 luxury apartment units.
Douglass Emmett focuses on nine highly desirable submarkets in Los Angeles County, six of which are located on the Westside: Brentwood, Century City, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, the Olympic Corridor, and Westwood. The other three are located in the San Fernando Valley: Sherman Oaks/Encino, Warner Center/Woodland Hills, and Burbank.
Their success has can be attributed to their “focused business strategy that was implemented by its founding principles – managing, developing, redeveloping and acquiring multifamily and commercial real estate in high barrier-to-entry submarkets that exhibit strong economic characteristics.” They take into account not only the obvious traits of a potential new project such as a growing job market, but also limiting factors including political barriers.
Mary Jensen, Vice President of Investor Relations, recently released that Douglas Emmett Inc. would announce their 2008 second quarter earnings results after the close of the stock market on August 5, 2008. Chief Executive Officer Jordan Kaplan and Chief Financial Officer William Kamer will conduct a live conference call the following day.
