Former Santa Monica High baseball star Cody Decker is about to begin his senior year at UCLA.

Decker is one of four position players returning to the Bruins, who are ranked No. 21 nationally by the publication Collegiate Baseball. In addition, UCLA has two starting pitchers coming back.

Decker has been a Designated Hitter and first baseman at UCLA after being a catcher in his senior year at Samohi.

UCLA’s other returning players are Gabe Cohen, Blair Dunlap and Casey Haerther. The pitchers are Gavin Brooks and Charles Brewer.

UCLA will begin its season February 20 with a three-game weekend series against UC Davis at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
