Overnight I-405 lane closures through Sepulveda Pass planned for weeklong paving project

Caltrans schedules major ramp shutdowns and multi-lane reductions between Wilshire Boulevard and U.S. 101 starting Aug. 3.

Drivers navigating the Sepulveda Pass will face extensive night travel delays next week as transportation crews install concrete barriers and execute road resurfacing work along Interstate 405.

Engineers with the California Department of Transportation announced that I-405 Sepulveda Pass closures will begin nightly at 9 p.m. and wrap up by 6 a.m. starting Monday, Aug. 3, through Friday, Aug. 7.

Speed limits will be reduced to 55 mph through active work zones along both northbound and southbound corridors. Caltrans advises commuters to allow extra travel time or seek alternate routes during construction hours.

Intermittent overnight shutdowns scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. include:

  • Up to two lanes of northbound I-405 between Sepulveda Boulevard and Victory Boulevard
  • Up to four lanes of northbound I-405 between Wilshire Boulevard and Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive
  • Eastbound Wilshire Boulevard on-ramp to northbound I-405
  • Moraga Drive on-ramp to northbound I-405
  • Northbound I-405 off-ramp to Moraga Drive
  • Northbound I-405 off-ramp to Getty Center Drive
  • Up to four lanes of northbound I-405 between Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive and Sepulveda Boulevard
  • Up to four lanes of southbound I-405 between Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive and Wilshire Boulevard
  • Sepulveda Boulevard on-ramp to southbound I-405
  • Ventura Boulevard on-ramp to southbound I-405
  • Up to four lanes of southbound I-405 between U.S. 101 and Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive
  • Burbank Boulevard on-ramp to southbound I-405
  • Up to two lanes of southbound I-405 between Victory Boulevard and U.S. 101
  • Northbound U.S. 101 connector to southbound I-405
  • Southbound U.S. 101 connector to northbound I-405
  • Southbound U.S. 101 connector to southbound I-405

All scheduled work depends on weather conditions and may be adjusted if delays arise.
