Yes, it’s a City meeting but it’s a chance to hear City officials talk about Santa Monica’s financial situation and what measures can be taken to improve Santa Monica.

The theme is “Reflecting on the Past to Find Solutions for the Future,” and breakfast will also be served.

Greg Mortenson turned his story of being rescued by Himalayan villagers into two books, Listen to the Wind and

Three Cups of Tea. The latter book, in both its adult and young people’s editions, also tells of his crusade to promote peace through educational programs around the world. Mortenson will be signing and discussing his books and adventures at this event, presented by Children’s Book World and SMMUSD. Proceeds will go to the organization Pennies For Peace, which raises funds for educational opportunities in impoverished nations.
