Ex-Viking Ramos Becomes WLA Catcher:

Garret Ramos, a former Santa Monica High catcher, became the starter at West Los Angeles College in mid-season and has helped the Wildcats move into fourth place in the eight-team Western State Conference.

That’s quite an improvement for a second year program. West LA won just four conference games last season but is 7-10 now. The team is coached by Bob Grant with former Santa Monica High coach Kevin Brockway as his top assistant.

“Alex Coons was doing a good job as our catcher but Garret brought a lot when we began playing him,” said Grant.”Garrett’s enthusiasm has given our team a boost and Alex helps us at other positions, including pitching.”

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Ramos is a freshman.
