12 students from Samohi will be racing their 16’ solar boat “RETHINK,” representing their school and the City of Santa Monica in the Metropolitan Water District’s 2009 Solar Cup from Thursday through Sunday, May 14-17. The team will camp for three days and three nights at Lake Skinner in Temecula Valley, where they will compete in sprint and endurance races against 40 other high schools from around Southern California. Team members gathered in Marina Del Rey, to test the boat in water for the first time on Sunday, May 10.
