Fund Set Up for Injured Samohi Player:

Friends of Cody Williams, who was injured in the opening game of Samohi’s football season September 11, have established a fund to help cover medical and other costs resulting from the injury. Cody’s mother Stacy said that she is extremely touched by the love, support, and prayers that she and Cody have received during this difficult time.

Donations can be made to a personal mailbox donated by a family friend: Cody Williams Recovery Fund, 2554 Lincoln Boulevard, PMB 693, Venice, California 90291. PayPal donations can be made to codywilliamsrecoveryfund@yahoo.com. “All donations will go directly to help cover insurance and living costs now and in the future,” said Tricia Smith, speaking for the recovery fund.

Donations can also be made to the Cody Williams Recovery Fund c/o Norm Lacy, Athletic Director, Santa Monica High School, 601 Pico Boulevard, Santa Monica 90405. Samohi plans several fundraising activities in the coming months, Lacy said.

Williams was taken from the field September 11 by ambulance to UCLA’s Reagan Medical Center. In an email to faculty and staff and then to the extended school family September 12, Santa Monica High School principal Hugo Pedroza revealed that the team doctor said Williams suffered trauma to his cervical spine and underwent surgery by a respected medical team, but his family was told a full prognosis won’t be made for six to 12 months.
