Megan Kilroy, captain of Samohi’s Team Marine, (center with checks), surrounded by her teammates, was surprised by celebrity Nick Cannon (left in tuxedo) and presented with the Nickelodeon Halo Award at the Heal the Bay Coastal Cleanup Day in Santa Monica on Saturday, September 19. Cannon will host and executive produce (Nickelodeon) TEENick’s Halo Awards (working title). The show, which is currently in production and will premiere in winter 2009, celebrates ordinary teens that make a difference in the world, in the hopes of inspiring and motivating a new generation of leaders. Kilroy received $10,000 for her college fund and $10,000 for an environmental project. She said that she and her teammates will use that money to build a solar car.
