Palisades Football:

Palisades High, which will play Santa Monica Friday night at Corsair Field, began its football season with a 27-9 loss at Hollywood High last Friday.

The Dolphins are attempting to recover from the loss of quarterback Conner Preston, who transferred to Serra High in Gardena.

Preston is doing well there, throwing to one of the finest collection of receivers on any high school team in Southern California.

Venice High, which will oppose Santa Monica on Sept. 25, began its season with a 41-33 home win over West Covina.
