Police Chief Wins in Super Bowl-A-Thon XIV:

At the XIV SuperBowl-A-Thon on February 5, more than 550 bowlers at AMF Bay Shore Lanes in Santa Monica from various businesses, social service agencies and local government competed and raised funds to benefit the Westside Shelter & Hunger Coalition to strengthen services to homeless and at-risk men, women and families on the Westside of Los Angeles.

It was the first year in which Santa Monica Fire Chief Jim Hone failed to topple Santa MonicaPolice Chief Tim Jackman in the annual traditional competition dating back to the 1917 Opening Day Ceremonies of the Santa Monica Bowling Alleys, the two chiefs teams facing off in a no-holds-bowls competitions.

Hone, who is retiring after 30 years of service, said it seemed fitting that Jackman had the trophy as the Fire Department’s leadership transitions and offices are moved around.
