Samohi Girls Reach Semi-Finals:

A fourth quarter rally led by guard Thea Lemberger carried the Santa Monica High girls basketball team into the semi-finals of the CIF Division 1 playoffs.

With the 54-46 home court win over Rancho Cucamonga Wednesday night, Samohi advanced to a Saturday night game at Ayala.

Lemberger scored 14 of her 32 points in the fourth quarter, when Samohi outscored the visitors, 22-10.

Coach Marty Verdugo’s Vikings are the No. 2 seed. Ayala is No. 4. Rancho Cucamonga was No. 8.

Our information was they were better than a No. 8 seed so we expected a tough game,” said Verdugo

Forward Moriah Faulk, who returned after missing the Vikings’ first two playoff games with a knee injury, scored 12 points.

If Samohi wins its semi-final game it will play for the championship a week later.
