Crossroads Has Impressive Opening Baseball Win:

Crossroads opened its 2010 baseball season by defeating defending CIF Division 6 champion Oxford Academy of Cypress, 10-2.

“They had all but two starters returning and we wanted a challenging opening game,” said Crossrosds co-coach Pat Armstrong. “But we scored a first inning run and then Josh Flyer hit a grand slam home run in the thitd.”

Flyer, who has a baseball scholarship to Villanova, is coming off basketball season and is not yet ready to pitch, so he played centerfield.

Crossroads added five more runs in the sixth.

Starting pitcher Holden Miller went five innings and gave up only two hits and two walks, freshman third baseman Brandon Scott then pitched the sixth and seventh.

Crossroads’ nexr game was scheduled against Milken, which is rated Number 1 in Division 7, on Tuesday, March 9.
