Santa Monica Pier Aquarium Fishy Fest

The Aquarium is holding a marine-oriented celebration for Halloween and Dia de los Muertos. Visit a “mad scientist laboratory,” tip toe through a marine animal graveyard, and create colorful Dia de los Muertos crafts and masks. Both days will feature a glow in the dark bioluminescence presentation at 2 p.m. and don’t miss the “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” at 4 p.m. (not the movie but a seminar on marine parasites).

Santa Monica History Museum

Grand Opening,

October 24, 2-5 p.m., free, 1350 7th St., www.santamonicahistory.org.

The Santa Monica History Museum finally has a permanent home and the ribbon cutting that will officially open the museum will be taking place at 2 p.m. Free tours will be available to see the museum’s research library, changing gallery, permanent gallery, collections storage, and staff and volunteer work area.
