The Thanksgiving Spirit of Sunset Park:

‘Tis the season to give back! Local realtors Janice Hou and Scott Price of Keller Williams Santa Monica teamed up with community grocery store Yummy.com for their Second Annual Food Drive to collect over 1,000 pounds from Sunset Park residents to donate to the Westside Food Bank.

Scott Price and Janice Hou, along with volunteers Michael Afshari and Mark Mendez, traveled through Sunset Park between Pico and Ocean Park boulevards to collect door-to-door the generous bags left by the residents. Residents were notified of the food drive by 1,200 paper bags and letters that were dropped off requesting their kind participation for the food drive. The bags were graciously donated by Yummy.com located at Pico Boulevard and Euclid Street in Sunset Park.

The realtors and volunteers then returned to the neighborhood a week later to collect the food donations. Residents who participated in the drive left their bags outside their doors, signaling for pick up.

“We are always so inspired by the spirit of the community and thank the Sunset Park residents for being involved in the drive. We feel so blessed to not only work, but to live in this neighborhood as well, ” said JaniceHou.
