A puppet show with puppets who “rock” (Jacob Stein and Jason Rabinowitz), who take the audience on an adventure through Brooklyn and encounter everything from vegetables to mermaids while searching for the best pasta sauce ever.

Dolen Perkins-Valdez, author of “Wench,” this year’s Santa Monica Citywide Reads selection, will discuss her book, which deals with four slave mistresses over the course of three summers in pre-Civil War America. In conjunction with this event, a series of discussion groups on “Wench” are being held at locations throughout Santa Monica.
