No. 10 Paraclete Too Much For Crossroads:

After a strong showing in the first game

It was 17-14 in the first game against No. 10 Paraclete, and Crossroads had serve to try to rally and tie or take the lead.

But after the Roadrunner serve sailed long, Paraclete didn’t look back. The Spirits took eight of the final 10 points to win game one.

After that, the wheels came off completely for Crossroads, and the Spirits won convincingly 25-16, 25-10, 25-9.

“I saw a lot of errors, a lot of mental errors, a lack of heart, a lot of miscommunication” said Crossroads coach Mari Jo Deutschman. “We just did not play well tonight.”

Game three saw Paraclete go up 13-0 before the Roadrunners got on the board.

The problem is the schedule doesn’t get any easier. Every other team in the Alpha League is ranked in Division 3-A, too, with No. 1 Brentwood, No. 3 Campbell Hall and No. 5 Windward.

“I don’t think we have enough experience to be intimidated,” Deutschman said. “I don’t think they have a lot of their own self-confidence… They just need more games.”

Crossroads will host Brentwood next Monday.
