Area Volleyball Teams Reach Semifinals:

With two sweeps and a thriller, all three CIF volleyball qualifiers advanced to their respective semifinals on Saturday.

The Samohi Vikings took down Santa Ynez in three sets, going 25-20, 25-16, 25-22, and the Lighthouse Christian Saints did away with Calvary Chapel 25-18, 25-20, 25-19.

But Pacifica Christian’s slow start put them into a two games-to-none hole against Fairmont Prep. However, a third game rally got the Sea Wolves back in the match and eventually reigning triumphant, 19-25, 23-25, 25-16, 25-18, 15-11.

Samohi will host Poly/Pasadena and Lighthouse Christian will host Sierra Canyon, while Pacifica Christian will go on the road to face Hemet. All matches will be played on Tuesday night.
