President and Chief Operating Officer for The Edward Thomas Collection of Hotels (ETC) Timothy Dubois has been elected as the 2012 Chair of the California Chamber of Commerce (CalChamber) Board of Directors.
Dubois, who plays a key role in the development and success of the three California-based ETC hotels – which includes Shutters on the Beach and Hotel Casa del Mar in Santa Monica, and The Canary Hotel in Santa Barbara – brings a wealth of experience and an educated perspective to CalChamber, the largest broad-based business advocate to government in California.
“The coming year brings many challenges and opportunities for our state and our country,” Dubois said in a statement. “It is an honor to serve as CalChamber’s 2012 Chair at a time when the involvement and voice of employers is more important than ever.”
CalChamber is a not-for-profit organization committed to helping California businesses survive and thrive while complying with complex laws and regulations. With a diverse group of almost 15,000 members, companies range from Del Monte Foods and the Walt Disney Corporation to local companies with a handful of employees. For more than 120 years, CalChamber has worked to make California a better place to do business by giving private-sector employers a voice in state politics and providing a full range of California-specific products and service.
Dubois joined ETC Hotels as a partner is 1987 and has been instrumental in developing key infrastructure for financial growth and corporate success. He is intimately involved in virtually every aspect of hotel operations throughout all ETC properties. He has worked in the hospitality industry since his youth, and became a hotel general manager at age 25. Before joining ETC, Dubois spent 17 years with DoubleTree Hotels, rising to the position of Western Division Vice President, supervising 13 hotels.
Dubois graduated from Washington State University with a business degree in hotel administration.
