SMC Students Attempt World-Record ‘Soul Train’ Line:

The Santa Monica College Black Collegians Program will attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the Largest Soul Train Line and unite our campus in song and dance. The current record is 211 people and Black Collegians will attempt 300. We also want to commemorate the passing of legendary Soul Train creator and visionary Don Cornelius in 2012, the attempt to break this record will occur on Thursday May 3,at 11:30 a.m. on the main SMC Quad during the SMC “Club Row” Event.

The Black Collegians Program has actively participated in “Club Row” for the past 5 years; it has performed a routine in connection with the “Club Row” booth theme every year.

This past Fall 2011 semester, a Harlem Renaissance/1920’s themed dance was performed and featured SMC President Dr. Chui L.Tsang.

The SMC Black Collegians Program was established in 1990 to assist students of African descent in their success at SMC and their future endeavors.
