With Thanksgiving only weeks away and the holiday season not too far after that, Downtown Santa Monica’s popular ICE at Santa Monica skating rink opens for its sixth year starting today.
The rink is part of the Winterlit 2012 celebration of the holiday season that includes community holiday events and many surprises.
ICE at Santa Monica is a unique outdoor venue where skaters can enjoy the festive winter season under the stars at 1324 5th Street (corner of 5th and Arizona).
In what has now become a community tradition, Downtown Santa Monica will host an exciting Grand Opening Celebration this Thursday, Nov. 8 from 6-10 p.m.
The evening will be hosted by National and World Champion pair skaters Randy Gardner and Tai Babilonia and will feature entertaining performances by synchronized skating team California Gold and California’s most elite skaters, a holiday concert by Venice, a night of free skating to music by DJ Kelly Dlux and a host of other family-friendly activities.
ICE at Santa Monica will be open to the public daily starting today, Nov. 2 through Jan. 21, 2013. Admission and skate rental is $12.
This year, ICE Bites Café will provide delicious snacks, and a mini kids’ rink will be available for children aged 6 or younger.
The regular hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 2-10 p.m., Fridays from 2 p.m. to midnight, Saturdays from 10 a.m. to midnight, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Hours may vary over the holiday period.
