An investigation is underway into how a motorcyclist was killed Tuesday morning in an accident involving a Big Blue Bus in the Pacific Palisades.
A Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman told The Mirror a 911 call was received just after 10:30 a.m. and paramedics were sent to the 16900 block of West Sunset Boulevard.
The spokeswoman said the man was pinned beneath the bus and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Suja Lowenthal, Government and Community Relations Manager at Big Blue Bus, told The Mirror the bus had no passengers at the time of the incident as its driver was emerging from a layover position at Sunset and Marquez.
“Early indications from our understanding is that our driver made a legal left turn (from Marquez) onto Sunset Boulevard and the motorcyclist collided with the bus,” Lowenthal said. “That is unconfirmed based on any investigations or any information resulting from police investigations.”
She said the bus involved was number 3855 that was part of Route 9.
“This is a very tragic situation,” she said. “Until we know more, we are unable to comment further. We are very concerned that a life was lost.”
