A 30-year-old man from Pacific Palisades was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 19 after making an illegal traffic maneuver in front of police and then being caught with a loaded firearm and other weapons.
At 4:05 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were on a routine patrol in the area of Pico Boulevard and Lincoln Boulevard when they saw a black Dodge Ram truck that was traveling westbound on Pico Boulevard make a left hand turn against a red turn light.
The officers stopped this vehicle in the 700 block of Bay Street and spoke with the driver.
The eagle-eyed officers, as they were in conversation with the driver, spotted what they believed to be drug paraphernalia.
The officers inquired with the driver if he was in possession of any weapons, to which he responded that yes, he did indeed possess two knives and a handgun, concealed under armrest in the vehicle.
The officers removed this man from the vehicle forthwith and found the loaded 45-caliber handgun under the armrest, along with the two knives.
This man from Pacific Palisades was charged with carrying a concealed weapon inside a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, and failure to yield to a red arrow. Bail was set at $10,000.
