The Pacific Coast Highway near Santa Monica reopened all lanes at approximately 3 pm Thursday after an overnight landslide closed the northbound lanes for most of the day.
Authorities shut down the northbound PCH lanes between Sunset Boulevard and Temescal Canyon Road in Pacific Palisades at approximately 4 am; southbound lanes remained open.
Bulldozers worked throughout the day to remove debris off the road.
A garden hose that was left on overnight could have saturated the soil and triggered the slide near Temescal Canyon Road, according to several news reports.
