Santa Monica Friday Event Happenings For March 22: A look at what’s on today across Santa Monica.

Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel’s “California Classics Chef Concert Series” returns from 6:30-9:30 pm. The event gives music and food enthusiasts the chance to enjoy classic rock favorites in a stylish setting overlooking the Pacific Ocean while savoring contemporary California coastal cuisine from Executive Chef Keith Roberts. General admission is $99 per person and includes beer, wine and signature cocktails. 1700 Ocean Ave. Tix.com.

“I Wish To Be Slimed,” presented by Nickelodeon and Toyota, will be held at Santa Monica Place, level one, from noon to 6 pm. In preparation for the Kids’ Choice Awards, Center Plaza will be transformed by a green screen digital sliming station, a true sliming unit, and a Toyota RAV 4 vehicle display. Kids are invited to enter to win for tickets to the Kids’ Choice Awards on March 23 and for the opportunity to be slimed. Children under 18 years of age will need a parent present if chosen to be slimed. santamonicaplace.com/Events.

Laemmle’s Monica 4-Plex presents the exclusive engagement of “The Happy Poet.” The film is an all-organic, mostly vegetarian comedy about Bill, a struggling poet who pours his heart, soul, and last few dollars into starting a healthy hotdog stand. Special Q&A sessions with The Happy Poet will follow the main evening show tonight and Saturday, March 23. $11. 1332 2nd St. laemmle.com.

The Broad Stage presents “Celtic Soul” at 7 pm. The National Children’s Chorus brings Ireland to The Broad Stage. Accompanied by authentic Irish instruments, and sung by the purest voices in the city, Westsiders will be mesmerized by the beauty of the Celtic art form, and convinced that leprechauns in fact may have found a new home in Santa Monica. $36-$68. 1310 11th St. 310.434.3200, thebroadstage.com.
