Santa Monica police arrested and booked a couple on domestic violence charges Thursday, March 28 after officers were unable to establish who was to blame as they both had injuries and conflicting stories.
At 3:53 am officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the couple’s residence in the 2000 block of 21st Street in order to investigate a domestic violence report.
When the officers arrived they were presented with a pair of individuals, namely a man (boyfriend) and a woman (girlfriend). These two people co-habited at the location.
The officers looked at both of them and they both had visible injuries, presumably received as a result of mutual assaults.
The officers questioned each of these people individually and heard two conflicting versions of the events involved in the events that night.
It soon became obvious to the officers that it was going to be impossible to establish who, if anyone, was to blame for the incident so they decided to arrest both parties, and charge each of them with domestic violence.
Both this 31-year-old boyfriend, and 42-year-old girlfriend had bail set at $50,000 each.
