With construction of the Expo line in Santa Monica well underway, local artist Bettina Hubby hosted a “Dig the Dig” dinner at the Santa Monica Museum of Art on Sunday, July 21.

More than 250 people attended the dinner at 2525 Michigan Avenue, which celebrated the expansion of the Expo Line to Bergamot Station (it is expected to open in 2016).

The evening was a night of food, fun, and construction site-specific art and music.

Curated by Hubby, the event captured the early stages of the new station’s development including a full visual of the construction sight.

Hubby created an experience of artistic engagement in and around the construction site capturing the beauty of transformation.

Community members, city officials, and numerous exhibiting artists attended the event, which was a potluck dinner representative of the cultural and culinary diversity of Santa Monica and Los Angeles.
