The CIF Southern Section 4A Division in girls volleyball is going to be a competitive journey to the title game. Santa Monica schools are all in the mix with Pacifica Christian, New Roads, and Crossroads being invited to the dance.
Pacifica Christian, which claimed the Liberty League crown, was rewarded for the outstanding play during the regular season by receiving a bye in the first round of the playoffs. That wasn’t the case with either New Roads or Crossroads. Both teams opened up the postseason with games played on Tuesday.
Crossroads, the Delphic League champs, took out Gladstone in three sets, winning 25-19, 25-22 and 25-19 in the opening round matchup. New Roads, which finished third in the Coastal League, didn’t fare as well against their first round, playoff opponent.
New Roads lost the match in three sets to Desert Christian Academy on Tuesday. The Jaguars wend down in defeat 25-9, 25-10 and 25-19 to Desert Christian Academy on the road to end their season.
As far as Pacifica Christian, the Seawolves could be playing Saturday, should they get by Thursday’s opponent. The Seawolves have a lot to be playing for after coming up short in their title quest last season. Pacifica Christian is ranked sixth in their division.
