Thousands Of Santa Monica Residents Left Without Power After Wire Goes Down:

A high voltage wire went down Tuesday night just after 7:30 pm in the area of 700 block of Marine in Santa Monica.

Power outages were experienced from Ocean to 17th Street and Marine to Pico, affecting more than 5,000 customers.

The City of Santa Monica reported that traffic was blocked at Highland/Marine,7th/Pier, Highland/Pier, and on 7th from Ozone to Ashland.

Southern California Edison is still on scene and working to restore power. According to reports, there were still 650 customers without service at 7 am Wednesday.

The cause of the outage is under investigation.
