A federal grand jury in Tennessee has indicted 12 people in a multi-year conspiracy that allegedly stole more than $2 million worth of Nike shoes from the company’s main warehouse in Memphis, authorities said Monday.
The indictment, returned May 21, names Roy Lee Harvey Jr., Bereket Abraham — co-founder and co-owner of the popular Los Angeles shoe store Coolkicks — online reseller Jorge Cuellar, Keith Cannon, Cadarian Mack, Joel Deluna and six former Nike employees: Michael Perkins, Marquesio Robinson, Julian Baker, Cortez Spenser, Roderico McClellan and Damon Johnson.
The scheme allegedly operated from July 2021 through July 2024.
Harvey, previously arrested by LAPD in January 2024 on state charges of receiving stolen property, and Abraham allegedly conspired to print UPS shipping labels using equipment and an account tied to Abraham and Coolkicks, according to the indictment. Abraham and Cuellar then paid Harvey and others more than $900,000 for the stolen shoes, which were sold online or through Coolkicks to the public, authorities said.
Harvey, Abraham and Cuellar were arrested June 22 and 23 on federal warrants and appeared in federal court in Los Angeles on June 23. They face charges of conspiracy, aiding and abetting, and interstate transportation of stolen property. Convictions could bring up to 15 years in federal prison, fines of up to $500,000 and three years of probation.
The remaining defendants’ arrest statuses were not immediately detailed in the announcement.
