Santa Monica community activist and 2012 City Council candidate Armen Melkonians will unveil his new community organization website residocracy.org on Tuesday night, dubbed a “simple, efficient, and effective tool to take your city back from the developer interests currently controlling City Hall.”
The launch will take place at a meeting hosted by the Our Town group in a conference room in the 700 block of Ocean Avenue at 7 pm.
According to an invitation to the launch, the website will provide residents a “unified voice in telling City Hall what’s important to residents and will ensure that City Hall listens and acts to protect resident Interests.”
“If City Hall does not listen to residents, residocracy.org provides a simple, efficient, and effective way to veto City Hall decisions through the inherent power that Residents hold over City Hall decisions – the referendum,” the invitation reads. “Through its community network of residents, residocracy.org takes the referendum process and makes it available to residents for free in a simple, efficient, and effective way. This is the hammer of strength of residocracy.org and its community network of residents.”
