Candlelight Vigil For Racial Healing Tonight:

April marks the 46th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today, April 5, at 7:30 pm, the Los Angeles and Santa Monica Tea Party will join the civil rights patriot-activist Ted Hayes and black conservatives from the Capital Hill National Caucus in a simple candle light ceremony to remember Dr. King’s dream of freedom for all.

The event will be held on the outdoor plaza behind the Santa Monica Library, in front of the Martin Luther King Jr. Auditorium.

It will include a reading of excerpts from Dr. King’s famous speeches by Marcus Williams, short remarks from Ted Hayes and from other Southern California patriot leaders, the singing of patriotic songs and, of course, the candle-lighting ceremony.

The purpose of the vigil is to honor MLK’s call for racial healing–not race warfare. In contrast to many political partisans of today who are stoking the fires of race warfare, MLK was famous for proclaiming that blacks and whites must advance toward freedom together, that liberty for one, and not the other, was not true freedom at all.

The event is free and open to the public–all are welcome. Candles will be provided. Parking on street or in the library garage. Note that this event is not sponsored by the Santa Monica Library and the library building will be closed. Attendees are asked to assemble directly on the plaza behind the library.
