Coroner Identifies Man Killed On Scooter Who Crashed Into Santa Monica Police Cruiser:

The accident occurred at the intersection of Pico and 4th in Santa Monica.

Thirty-year-old Walter James, of Highland, has been identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office as the man killed on a 2013 motor scooter on Saturday morning after a collision with a Santa Monica Police Department Cruiser.

James was on a scooter headed east on Pico when he reportedly ran a red light and collided with a SMPD cruiser that was traveling north on Fourth Street.

The collision happened at 7:40 am at the intersection of Pico Boulevard and Fourth Street.

James was pronounced dead at a hospital while the officer suffered moderate injuries and also transported to a hospital for treatment.
