Pit Bulls Quarantined After Attacking Eight-Year-Old Girl In Santa Monica:

An eight-year-old girl is resting at home today after being attacked by two to three pit bulls on Sunday night, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

SMPD Sgt. Jay Moroso said officers responded to a call of a dog bite in the 1800 block of 21st Street at about 8 pm.

Moroso told The Mirror the attack involving three pit bull dogs occurred in the yard of a private residence.

“The yard had several apartments on the premises,” Moroso said. “As the girl and her mother arrived, the dogs came out of a residence and bit her.”

The girl sustained non-life threatening bite wounds to her left shoulder area, her left foot and calf, and left buttocks to which she was taken to a local hospital and received multiple stitches, Moroso said.

Moroso said the three dogs involved in the incident were taken from the owners for a 10-day quarantine by the SMPD’s Animal Control Unit.

“The initial police investigation has found no evidence of criminal conduct committed by the dog owners,” Moroso said.
