Santa Monica police arrested a 23-year-old L.A. man on Thursday, March 27 for stealing a manila envelope containing 150 concert tickets from a vehicle in Parking Structure Number Two.
During the late morning hours on this day, officers of the Santa Monica Police Department as well as Downtown Service Officers saw a suspicious man who was driving in and out of several parking structures in the downtown area at a high rate of speed.
Later, at 1:35 pm, other officers spotted a vehicle make an unsafe lane change whilst travelling southbound on Fourth Street. This vehicle then turned onto the eastbound I-10 on-ramp so the officers gave chase.
After a short distance the officers pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver.
It transpired that this was the vehicle that had been seen earlier at the parking structures.
The driver confessed to not having a drivers’ license and while this man was reaching into a bag to retrieve an ID card the officers noticed that a screwdriver fell out of the bag.
The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found a manila envelope that contained 150 concert tickets.
These tickets had been earlier reported as being stolen from Parking Structure Number Two.
The officers arrested this man and he was charged with vehicle burglary, receiving stolen property, and two vehicle code violations.
Bail was not granted.
