SMPD Hosts Summer Kick Off Event This Morning:

The Santa Monica Police Dept. and Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks are hosting a ‘Summer Kick-Off’ event at the Public Safety Facility located at 333 Olympic Drive on Saturday, May 31st from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.. The event will take place between the City Hall building and the Public Safety Facility.

We are introducing a new and improved Unit within our Department, formerly known as Community Relations, and now known as Community Affairs.  Your Neighborhood Resource Officers (NRO’s) and Crime Prevention Coordinators (CPC’s) have joined forces to enhance the level of service we provide to our community.

Santa Monica Police Department’s K-9 Unit, SWAT, Motorcycle Officers, Pier and Harbor Service Officers, Forensics Unit, Patrol Officers, Neighborhood Resource Officers, Crime Prevention Coordinators, Santa Monica Mounted Patrol Unit and McGruff, the Crime Dog, will be there.

The Santa Monica Police Department will announce a partnership with Nextdoor (www.nextdoor.com), the private social network for neighborhoods, to improve citywide communications and safety.  Led by Chief Seabrooks, the integration with Nextdoor will enable the Santa Monica Police Department to use Nextdoor to facilitate a virtual Neighborhood Watch and share important safety updates, emergency notifications, news, services and programs with Santa Monica neighborhoods.

There will be activities for the whole family to enjoy along with food, drinks and pastries.

Free parking will be available in the Civic Center parking structure located directly across the street from the Public Safety Facility.
