Santa Monica Place rings in the Lunar New Year with lots of cultural entertainment this weekend.
The shopping center will be celebrating “The Year of the Ram” with pageantry and authenticity. The Lunar New Year – also known as the Spring Festival – will feature entertainment and presentations based on Chinese traditions.
During the Lunar New Year celebration, guests can write their New Year’s wish on a tag and place it inside a sealed traditional Lunar New Year red envelope and hang it on a Manzanita tree. They can purchase wishes for $2.
All proceeds will benefit Families with Children from China Southern California, a non-profit organization that is an advocate for adoptive families throughout the Greater Los Angeles area and Orange, Ventura, San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.
The public is encouraged to take selfies at the Chinese gong and upload them on their social media pages using #LNYSMP and #santamonicaplace. For more information, visit www.SantaMonicaPlace.com.
The festivities start at 1:30 pm each day today and tomorrow at Santa Monica Place’s center plaza.
