Fundraising For Non-Profits Course Begins In April At Santa Monica College:

How do you get people to say ‘yes’ when asking them to donate? This is the topic of a new course being offered through Santa Monica College Community Education, Bundy Campus, beginning April 22.

Instructor Shar McBee left her job as an entertainment reporter for CBS/KNX News Radio and volunteered all over the world.

She built wells in India, raised money for an orphanage in China and organized a concert for homeless children in Australia.

Her first book, “To Lead is to Serve – How to Attract Volunteers & Keep Them” became a bestseller in the nonprofit world and led to a 20 year speaking career. Today she helps nonprofits with fundraising.

Board members, volunteers, and staff of not-for-profits will learn about organizations that have quickly doubled their donations.

The course also covers how to raise money from major donors, how to attract supporters to help with fundraising, and how to write marketing materials that inspire people to give.

The “Fundraising for Non Profits” course will take place on five Wednesdays, April 22 – May 20, from 7-9 pm.  Fee: $129.  Free parking.  Registration is now open:  http://commed.smc.edu/index.cfm?method=ClassInfo.ClassInformation&int_class_id=51931.
